Select Board Appoints Meagher to School Committee

Northbridge Select Board fills School Committee vacancy, appoints Meagher. In a joint roll-call vote with the School Committee, the board selected Aaron Meagher, a pediatric and adult nurse practitioner and Board of Health member, over finalist Jill Leonard for an open seat, after interviews of four candidates on special education, literacy and retention. "The override failed, and then it passed," said finalist Ellen Scheibel, recalling last year's school funding vote.
DPW Director Jamie told selectmen the Mendon Road bridge project has grown from a $1.2 million, 90-day job to $2.2 million and up to 15 months after MassDOT added guardrail work. The board also appointed Paula DeMont to the Historical Commission, Pamela Mason as Council on Aging administrative assistant, and Christopher Zanchi and Thomas Valdivia as Trustees of Soldiers' Memorial, and approved three National Grid utility pole permits.
